6 More weeks of winter?!?

It's hard to believe it's still officially winter when we've had 70+ degree weather for the past several days. The kids are enjoying the time they get to spend outside running and riding their bikes. We took a trip to the zoo last week and it was a perfect day. We took A out of hula for the month of December and upon our return she was able to move up to the next level so she is busy learning lots of new steps. It has also be Girl Scout cookie season so we've been pushing those cookies on friends, family and neighbors alike. Thanks again to those of you who ordered and helped Abby earn some free days at summer camp and a few new badges for her Brownie vest.

B is a typical 3 year old boy. He's rough and tumble and wants to play anything that involves cars, guns or superheroes. Did I mention he's a total boy (mama's boy too!)? Here are a few pictures from Christmas up until now.

Brad and I are staying busy and keeping each other in check. We are both currently obsessed with the book series Game of Thrones. Have you read them? They are LONG but soooo good!

It's crispy

Finally...we have some crispness in the air. There are still the occasional days where we see the 80+ degree mark, but in general...it's finally cooling off. We spent this lovely cool morning cleaning up the yard and flowerbeds to prepare the yard for Christmas. You see, it's only November 20th, but our Christmas lights are going up today. We are at the time mercy of the Christmas light guy and today is good for him so it's good for us too.I had the kids raking leaves and A hoped she would have enough to jump into when she was finished. Sadly, that would not happen for her. We did not have many leaves. They finally gave up and played around the yard while mom and dad finished the cleaning. Here are a few pictures from today.

Brad got himself a new toy. If you are reading this then you will know before anyone else. I'm not putting anything about it on FB and I'm fairly certain that he didn't mention it to anyone. Anyhow, he got rid of our gas guzzling Tahoe and downsized to a new Volvo. It is really lovely. I don't care one little lick about cars so you won't get much more from me. It's black and it's really lovely. I actually drove it and enjoyed the ride.

Surprise...it's November

October was here...now it's gone. It is my favorite month of the year and I totally missed it. October was CRAZY times in the Ellison house and I'm sad to say that I didn't really get to celebrate it at all. Instead, we focused on the many activities we were blessed to have and before we knew it...proof...it's November. I didn't decorate my front yard for fall this year. No mums, no hay, no pumpkins. I did manage to get a few things out around the house to signify the change of seasons and Brad even put a wreath on the door. Moving forward now to December...I'm focused on all things Christmas! I'm not forgetting about November, but I'm not actually having Thanksgiving at our house so I can just enjoy the month instead of watching it disappear.Many fun little Christmas projects and kiddie things to look forward to. Christmas/ Holiday parties are already being planned and Christmas shopping list are already being prepared. A will be performing in a few Christmas Hula Shows locally so I'll post some of those pictures once she does. Here are a few pictures from the past month.

The Fair Experience

I was looking forward to an afternoon filled with children's laughter and an insane amount of people watching. We were at the State Fair of Texas...on the day of The Game. If you are a Texan then you know what I'm talking about! We were in the middle of the Texas/ OU crowd getting prepared to dance with A's hula troupe. The people watching didn't go as planned, because I could not see past the burnt orange and crimson hung on every person we encountered. The laughter, however, was everywhere. We spent the day waiting for A to perform with her troupe and then we made our way through the crowds to ride a few rides and play a few games on the midway. We ate our share of fried foods, but stayed away from the exotic ones like fried salsa and kraut balls. The kids got to see some animals up close and then we made our way back to the car. It was a wonderful exhausting experience.

Summer Days

The kids and I spent most of this record breaking hottest summer indoors or outside in the water somewhere. They are growing like weeds and having so much fun. A is in second grade this year and B started full time preschool. They are both loving their teachers and friends. I've started working part time and continue to help out at A's school the best I can.A decided to take a break from soccer and swimming this year so we have added Hula and Girl Scouts in there place. We took a wonderful family vacation to Oahu in June. There were so many things for us to see and do and we certainly did as much as we could. Having not seen many of my aunties and uncles in over 20 years, I had much to catch up on.Brad and I continue to have a house project underway. We added a built in grill area out back in the summer and are putting the finishing touches on our renovated office area. Once that is finished we're moving on to the dining room. I'll need a break after this so we might not get into anything until after the holidays.
